Sainte-Anne-des-Monts is the central
town of the RMC of Haute-Gaspésie. It integrated the municipality of
Tourrelle in 2000 during an amalgamation. It is one of the major access points to the Parc de la Gaspésie. This focal town offers a great diversity of services to the public, including a cultural centre, an arena, a ski hill, play-grounds, a public swimming pool, hiking trails, a harbour for fishing and many other attractions.
Recently renovated, the
Exploramer Centre offers a multitude of enjoyable activities for young and old alike, in particular its boat, the
Exploramer.
In 2005, 1st Avenue received a face-lift. Filled with small paths, parks, sculptures, flower gardens and cross-walks for pedestrians, this neighbourhood has become a pleasant place to spend some time.
On every Sunday during the summer, the
Parc Multisports is transformed into a huge festival ground, including local artisans and growers offering their products to visitors and locals in the
Marché du Faubourg. In August, the area celebrates the sea with the
Festival des Grandes Marées. With the
Symposium de bois flotté, the town of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts aspires to become the national capital of sculpture.
