Struggle against poverty and social exclusion
In 2003, the Ministry for Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale a ciblé targeted the RMC of Haute-Gaspésie for the development and the implementation of a three year local plan to fight poverty and social exclusion stemming from the regrouping of community and institutional partners of the RMC. This action plan must allow, among other things, the support of employment integration of economically depressed people and to support various methods of fighting poverty and social exclusion.
More precisely, the targets of intervention prioritized by the regrouping of the community and institutional partners are as follows:

to provide essential nutritional needs and access to food; |

to provide essential material safety; |
|
to provide the essential housing needs; |
|
Provide essential transportation needs; |
|
to maintain or develop alternative means to ensure the care of those 16-50 years of age; |
|
Assure the continuation of services to 0-16 year olds ; |
|
to promote employment participation by supporting social and professional integration - targeted customers: 16-24 years; |
|
promote the action plan and to involve the community. |

- Accompaniment and transport for the low income earners and those with difficulty to use public transport in their specific situation.

- Beginners Workshops for computers and the Internet in the East.
- Temporary position - one (1) job for 29 weeks.

The Démêlée (the Awakening of reading and writing )

- To encourage reading to those aged 0-5 years.
