
A tool of The National Policy of the Rural Lifestyle … The Rural Pact
From its beginning in May, 2002, the Rural Pact established a five year plan. The mandate is to maintain the commitments between the Ministre des Affaires Municipales et des Régions and RMC of Haute-Gaspésie and the planned partnership in regards to The National Policy of the Rural Lifestyle.
The commitment of the RMC of Haute-Gaspésie in the strengthening of the Rural Pact is exemplified by their active promotion, partnership, support, and vigour within its territory to establish winning conditions in this mobilization initiative in place since 2002.
The RMC of Haute-Gaspésie has the objective of implementing the Rural Pact and must take into account the following details:

dynamic activity in its territory;

demographic trends;

improvement in the quality of life;

economic diversification
-
the assumption of responsibility of the environment by various means;

the adaptation of policies and governmental interventions to the realities of the rural environment
And, by respecting the main trends of The National Policy of the Rural Lifestyle, it will:

stimulate and support the development and the prosperity of rural communities

ensure rural communities quality of life and reinforce their capacity to attract new citizens;

support the engagement of citizens towards the development of their community.
Essentially, the Rural Pact of the RMC of Haute-Gaspésie consists of engaging the territory to diversify its economy, to emphasize its resources, to ensure services, to preserve its identity and to encourage local enthusiasm. Through the achievement of structuring projects as presented in the Rural Pact framework, the RMC will support initiatives of local growth in association with its developmental orientation.
