History
On March 11, 1981, the RMC was created and was given the name "the RMC of Denis Riverin" in memory of the lord who was granted, from the administrators of Nouvelle France, the following pieces of land: Cap-Chat cove and the Cap-Chat, Ste-Anne, Madeleine et Mont-Louis rivers.
These territories, planned as fishing ports, were known as "lordships", although little connection can be linked to the system of lordship (mode of settlement) which was then in use in the populated zones of New France ( Nouvelle-France) at the time. Denis Riverin, a merchant and fishing administrator, is a unique part of the region's history as he was the only trader to have owned four lordships in the territory.
